B-Side BBQ Tops the Charts with New Cocktails

Handcrafted cocktails turn up the volume and refresh at one of Oakland’s hits

Oakland, CA, October 1, 2012 - Celebrated Chef-Owner, Tanya Holland and B-Side BBQ are bringing the same fanfare to their brand new cocktails list as they have to their “Oakland-Style” BBQ complimenting the best culinary traditions that San Pablo’s barbeque belt have to offer.

“I’m thrilled to share my handmade drink syrups that feature ingredients like thyme, vanilla, ginger, and my special sweet black tea minted brown sugar,” said Holland. “Adding cocktails to our casual spot allows you to kick back with a South of the Border Lemonade basil vodka, mezcal, cilantro, agave, lemon in a mason jar, or to sip The Best Weather Mandarin blossom vodka, blood orange liqueur, aperol, lime from a fancy glass with your friends.”

Holland not only has created two beloved restaurants, BROWN SUGAR KITCHEN AND B-Side BBQ referring the B-Side of a record — her own “B-Side” to her hit Brown Sugar Kitchen, but she is also the author of New Soul Cooking: Updating a Cuisine Rich in Flavor and Tradition Stewart, Tabori, and Chang, and the forthcoming Brown Sugar Kitchen Cookbook, Chronicle Books, Winter 2013. Holland is perhaps best known though her frequent TV appearances on Food Network, Cooking Channel, NBC’s Today Show, and much more. After receiving her Grande Diplôme from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in Burgundy, France, Chef Holland started her restaurant career on the opening team of Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill in 1994. Holland continued on to receive rave reviews at top establishments in New York, Boston, and Martha’s Vineyard, before settling in the Bay Area.

Holland’s global approach to cooking and technique make for a melodic menu at B-Side that welcomes all palates. Dishes like Smoked Brown Sugar Rubbed Brisket, Dark and Stormy St. Louis Ribs, and BBQ Braised Tofu Nuggets will bring Bay Area diners to the next level of barbecue, especially when paired Holland’s new West Side Julep rye, minted brown sugar syrup, lemon and The Bonze Buckaroo Buck bourbon, velvet falernum, angoustora bitters, lime, ginger beer. B-SIDE will also feature a list of bourbons that will compliment in any season.

To welcome this new cocktail menu to B-SIDE invites regulars and new diners to turn up the music and try a cocktail starting Friday, October 5th.

Come saddle up and join the Oakland community at B-Side BBQ in the heart of the “barbecue belt” at 3303 San Pablo Avenue. Open 11am—10pm 7pm prior to 10/05 Tuesday through Saturday for eating in and taking out. For more information, call 510 595-0227. For menus and more, visit: www.bsidebbq.com.
