Fairyland Presents "Magic Lantern," a Night of Curated Projection Art Benefiting Low-Income Outreach Program

OAKLAND, CA — Children’s Fairyland is pleased to announce Magic Lantern, a special one-night event showcasing Bay Area video and projection artists, presenting site-specific artworks among Fairyland’s fantastical architecture, sculptures, and amusement rides. We are thrilled to be supporting Oakland’s vibrant arts community with an event that will also offer a rare opportunity for adults to experience the park at night.

Works included in the exhibition include a projected, participatory thumb-wrestling tournament by FICTILIS, an animation that answers the question, “What happens at Fairyland at night?” by Lydia Greer, and animated adventures made from found and recycled materials by Erica Gangsei. The party will be rounded out by food from local food trucks, beer from local donors, and musical performances by Taser Island, Bryan Von Reuter, and members of Clipd Beaks, White Cloud, and Mwahaha.

Ticket sales will help Fairyland continue to provide free field trips to local low-income students.

Curated by Mary Anne Kluth, the event includes artists Susan Chen, FICTILIS, Emily Alden Foster, Erica Gangsei, Lydia Greer, Daniel Healey and Michael Dean, Ranu Mukherjee, Jeff Ray, Darren Russell, Eric Stewart, Jane Vidheecharoen, Bryan Von Reuter, Maggie Wong and Seth Neill.

Tickets are $25, presale only, available at http://fairylandmagiclantern.brownpapertickets.com/.
