The Oakland Asian Cultural Center will bring in the New Year of 4708 2011 in the solar calendar with its annual Lunar New Year Festival. Elements of Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Mongolian, and other Asian cultures are featured in the daylong celebration on February 12, 2011. Activities include cultural art activities for families and performances from OACC teachers/artists and their students.

The day’s activities will include:
Cultural Art Activities for Families
12:00–1:00 p.m.
Fruit Carving Demonstration by Art Chef, Jimmy Zhang.
Chinese Painting and Calligraphy activities by Shu Yi Liu.
Performances
1:00–4:00 p.m.
Ben's Shaolin Kung Fu Lion Dance Team will welcome in the New Year with an original Lion Dance.Dohee Leeand Jamaesori will perform a Korean standing drum piece called Ylim.
Patty Chu’s Chinese Folk Dance Troupe will present marvelous traditional Chinese and modern dances.
The Ger Youth Center will perform a Western Mongolian Ethnicity Dance and Uelzuur.
Students from our Qi Gong classes, along with Master YongYao of the Shaolin Buddhist Temple & Education Foundation, will do a Qi Gong demonstration called Ba Duan Jin Wellness Practice.
Students from Youth and Adult Gong Fu classes will do a Gong Fu demonstration called Essence of Shaolin Gong Fu.Gong Fu class instructor, Master Changjun of the Shaolin Buddhist Temple & Education Foundation, will do a Gong Fu weapons demonstration called Shaolin Shepherd’s Whip.
OngDance Company and Ong Dance School will perform a Korean Three Drum Dance called Sam-go-mu.
China’s Spirit Music EnsembleCSME will perform folk and contemporary Guzheng arrangements.
Master Wayne Peng will do a Zhao Bao Tai Chi demonstration.
American Center for Philippine ArtsACPA will perform Glimpses of the Philippines, featuring SEED Students with indigenous instrumentation from ACPA Music and Artistic Direction of Jay Loyola.
The Bay Area's only queer women of color and trans-friendly eisa drumming group - RyuQ Murasaki Daiko RQMD celebrate their pride, cultural arts and the Lunar New Year with Eisa.
