Oakland, CA Nov 7, 2007 -- On Friday, December 7, 2007, the Oakland Convention & Visitors Bureau (OCVB) will recognize the many unsung "Heroes" in the service and hospitality industry at a special lunch event at the Hilton Oakland Airport. This is the only awards ceremony designed to honor those who play an exceptional role in welcoming and serving visitors to Oakland. Working behind the scenes and on the front lines, these employees seldom receive

public recognition for the important role they play in our community.
The public is invited to join by attending the luncheon and by nominating individuals in the Oakland service and hospitality industries who have provided excellent service to the public. Presentations will include lifetime achievement awards. The Richard L. Spees Destination Oakland Award, which is given to recognize an individual's significant contribution to Oakland's hospitality industry and their support to the OCVB, will also be presented.

Good Food, Good Cause
This festive event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A special holiday menu will be served. Tickets are $65.
Reservation information and nomination forms can be obtained by contacting dee@oaklandcvb.com or by calling 510-839-9000.
